Before we get into the routine, it’s important to actually know what each product does for your skin.

  • Cleansers remove dirt, oil, and makeup, giving your skin a fresh start. A quality cleanser prevents breakouts and prepares your skin for the next steps.

  • Vitamin C is an antioxidant that brightens skin and fights free radicals, helping to reduce the appearance of dark spots. Studies show that using Vitamin C can improve skin brightness by 40% over 12 weeks.

  • Retinol boosts cell turnover, helping to smooth fine lines and improve skin texture. It has been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 30% with CONSISTENT use.

  • SPF is critical for protecting against harmful UV rays, which can lead to premature aging. Even on cloudy days, up to 80% of UV rays can reach your skin. Don't underestimate the need this little powerhouse - especially here in Australia

  • Moisturisers are essential for maintaining hydration. Dry skin gets dull, red, angry, flaky, and sensitive! A good quality moisturiser is ESSENTIAL.

Your morning Routine

Step 1: Cleanser

Your skincare routine begins with a gentle cleanser. This step sets the foundation for everything that follows. Look for a hydrating formula with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin. For example, a cleanser like Skincare Doctor Gel Cleanser is known for its effective cleansing and moisturising properties.

Apply a small amount to damp skin, massage gently, and rinse with lukewarm water. This simple step can significantly impact your overall skincare results, making your skin more receptive to the following treatments.

Step 2: Vitamin C Antioxidant Serum

Next up is Vitamin C. This powerful serum works wonders for reducing fine lines and brightening your complexion. Research indicates that using a Vitamin C serum daily can lead to a noticeable improvement in skin tone within four weeks.

Use about three to five drops and gently massage it onto your face and neck. Look for serums with L-ascorbic acid, which is the most effective form of Vitamin C. Skincare Doctor Antioxidant serum is a beautiful serum that can enhance your skin's glow.

Step 4: Moisturiser

After your Vitamin C and retinol, it’s time for your moisturiser. This crucial step locks in the benefits of the previous treatments and keeps your skin hydrated, especially important as we age.

Select a moisturizer enriched with ceramides or peptides, known to nourish and repair the skin barrier. A product like Skincare Doctor DNA repair cream is a great way to feel hydrated without feeling heavy.

Evenly apply the moisturiser across your face and don't forget your neck. Your skin should feel soft and supple, ready to face the world!

Step 5: SPF

The final step is sunscreen. You must protect your skin daily, especially post-retinol, which can increase sensitivity to sunlight. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

Apply generously to your face and neck, and remember to reapply every two hours when outdoors for maximum protection.

Your Night Routine

Step 1: Cleanser - do it twice tonight!

Double cleanse at night to remove all the makeup and products off your skin!

Apply a small amount to damp skin, massage gently, and rinse with lukewarm water. This simple step can significantly impact your overall skincare results, making your skin more receptive to the following treatments.

Step 2 : Retinol or Retinal Serum

Retinol is the superhero of anti-aging skincare. It stimulates collagen production, which is crucial for maintaining skin firmness. For those new to retinol, it’s wise to start with a 0.2% to 0.5% concentration. Please come see us for a consult before starting retinol or retinal!

Apply a small amount to your face every other night, and increase usage gradually to avoid irritation. Regular users often notice a remarkable reduction in fine lines, with approximately 70% experiencing smoother skin after CONSISTENT use for a few months.

Step 3: Moisturiser

After your retinol serum, it’s time for your moisturiser.

Tips & Tricks for Success

  • Stay Consistent: I cannot stress this enough!!!! Commit to your routine for at least four to six weeks to see real improvements.

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water - your skin will thank you for it. Try to eat a balanced diet to enhance your skin’s health - our skin needs omega 3's and our body can't make its own- eat some fish or chia seeds, or take a supplement.
